Sleep and Rest

In this fast paced world it is important to ensure that you get adequate rest and sleep. Make sure that you take off work and rest at least 1 to 2 days per week. Working flat out may be good for production in the short term but the high pace will eventually catch up with you and make you feel burnt out. When people are burnt out it may take a few days for them to recover and this may result in even more lost production.

The amount of sleep a person needs differs from person to person. It is recommended that one sleep for 7 to 8 hours a day. It is important that when sleeping one stays asleep for the whole evening. Broken sleep is not optimum rest and can leave one feeling tired. One should focus on staying asleep for the duration of the night. Seek help from a naturopath, homeopath or traditional Chinese Medicine doctor if problems with sleep persist.

Tips to help you get to sleep:

  • Set an alarm to go to bed at one’s bedtime.
  • Switch off all electronic devices (including TVs) in one’s bedroom at least 40 mins before going to sleep.
  • Don’t eat a large meal for at least 3 hours before going to bed.
